A quiet interview copilot for Mac. Its hints come from your own CV and stories.
Paxhint

Question: How do you handle API versioning?
API versioning, URL & Accept header, deprecation
I version public APIs in the URL (/v1, /v2) and internal ones through the Accept header, so clients opt in explicitly. At Northwind Pay I migrated 40 services from v1 to v2 with a 6 month deprecation window: a Sunset header, usage dashboards per client, and v1 switched off only after traffic dropped to zero.
Refine (e.g. “shorter”) or type a question ending with “?”
Paxhint listens to the interviewer, transcribes on your Mac and drafts an answer from your own CV, STAR stories and job posting. Nothing goes to disk, and the panel is excluded from screen capture.
Coming to the Mac App Store.
Try the panel
This is the copilot panel as the app draws it. Hold the key while the question is asked, let go, and the answer streams in. Switch the style at the top, or type in the field at the bottom.

Control + fn is the default shortcut. You can choose another one in Settings.
Fast or Thorough
In the app this switch sits in the menu. The models shown are the defaults; you pick yours from your server’s list.
cv.md, sample profile
Backend lead at Northwind Pay, 2021 to 2025. Public payments API in Go and PostgreSQL.
stories.md
API v2 migration: 40 services moved from v1 to v2 with a 6 month deprecation window, a Sunset header and usage dashboards per client.
The sample answers use only this profile, for a fictional company. Yours will use your files.
Labels, states and layout come from the app’s own panel. Here the answers are prepared in advance; in the app the model writes them from your documents.
How it works
Press Start and Paxhint listens to the call.

Hold Control + fn while they ask.
Read the hint and answer in your own words.
A profile for every application
Keep one profile per company or job: its own CV, STAR stories, job posting and notes, as Markdown files in one folder. Pick the active profile in the menu, and every answer draws only on it, in the style you choose: Short, Definition or With example.
- Switching takes effect from the next question, no restart.
- Paxhint quotes only facts from the active profile, and says so when something is missing.
- Files can be in different languages, and any extra .md file you add is read too.
One folder, four files, three styles.
Calm mind. Quiet hint.
The name joins the Latin pax, meaning peace, with hint. That's the whole idea: it doesn't speak for you. It helps you stay calm and answer in your own words.
Paxhint gives you a hint, not a script. Answer in your own words.
Privacy

Paxhint works with any server that speaks the Anthropic API. Anthropic is the default, with your API key. Or enter the address of another server, such as a local proxy, where the key is optional. Paxhint loads that server’s models and you choose one for Fast and one for Thorough.
Built for the live call
What Paxhint does for you while the interview is running.
Missed the moment? It already heard it.
From Start, Paxhint listens to the whole call. Press Control + fn after they finish and it still takes their last sentence as the question. Kept in memory only, nothing saved to disk.
Answers that know the conversation
With the question, the model also gets the last ten lines of the conversation, so follow ups make sense. Kept in memory only, nothing saved to disk.
Fast or Thorough
Two answer modes, each with a model you pick from your server’s list.
You know it hears them
The menu shows it at a glance.
Steer it mid call
A note like “shorter” holds for the session.
A second model on standby
If the chosen model does not answer, Paxhint tries the other one.
Seven interface languages
Answers always come in the language of the question.
Two plans, one app
Paxhint is coming to the Mac App Store. These are the planned launch prices; there is no date yet. Purchases and refunds will go through Apple.

Common questions
The panel, the menu and Settings are not. If you share the whole screen, the Paxhint icon in the menu bar is visible, like any menu bar icon. Share one window or tab and nothing of Paxhint shows. Check it once from a second device before an important call.
No. Paxhint works with audio only: no camera, no video, nothing recorded. Audio lives in memory and nothing is written to disk. There is no recording, no transcript export and no meeting summary.
Any server that speaks the Anthropic API. By default that is Anthropic: paste your API key in Settings. To use another server, enter its address; for a local proxy the key is optional. Paxhint fetches the list of models from the server, and you pick one model for Fast and one for Thorough. The key is kept in the macOS Keychain. Transcription works without a server; only answers need one.
A Mac with Apple silicon (M1 or later) on macOS 14 Sonoma or newer, and a server that speaks the Anthropic API: Anthropic itself by default, or for example a proxy you run. The speech model, about 630 MB, downloads on first run.
Yes. Paxhint listens to the call audio playing on your Mac, so Meet in the browser works, and so do the Zoom and Teams apps. Use headphones, so your microphone does not pick up the interviewer from the speakers.
No. It shows a hint: a line of keywords and a few sentences built from your documents. You answer in your own words. If your documents do not cover the question, it tells you instead of making something up.
Microphone, and Screen & System Audio Recording, which macOS requires for capturing the call audio. If one is missing, the menu says which and opens the right place in System Settings.
The interface comes in English, Polish, German, French, Spanish, Italian and Portuguese (Brazil). Answers always come in the language of the question.
The App Store release is being prepared, at $9.99 a month or $99 a year. There is no date yet.
